I am writing to inform you of some changes in the Area Team, effective from 1st January 2018.
I am pleased to announce Andrew Chick is joining the Area Team as Deputy Area Commissioner. Andrew is currently a Scout and Explorer Leader at Machynlleth and is also a member of the Area Executive. He has also been acting as Area Treasurer for the past year. As part of his Deputy Area Commissioner role, Andrew will be taking on the responsibilities of District Commissioner that were previously undertaken by Chris Gilliard.
Chris Gilliard is continuing as Deputy Area Commissioner and will be taking on the responsibilities of District Explorer Scout Commissioner in order to support the Explorer section.
The responsibilities of the other Deputy Area Commissioners, Neil Grant (Training) and Julie Gilliard (Group Support), remain unchanged. As before, the Deputy Area Commissioners will work as a team and will support each other in their specialist areas. I would like to thank them for the support they have given to Scouting in Montgomeryshire over the past year and for their willingness to continue as members of the Area Team.
I would also like to welcome two new members to the Area Executive - David Morris as Area Treasurer, and Catherine Wilkins as Area Secretary. I would like to thank both of them for volunteering and I wish them well in their new roles.
Unfortunately we are losing a member of our team as Kevin Andrews is stepping down as Area Appointments Secretary after nearly two years in the role. Kevin has done an incredible amount of work in sorting out the appointments process in Montgomeryshire, for which I am very grateful. We are currently looking for Kevin's successor, so if you know of anyone who might be suited to this administrative role, please let myself or one of the Area Team.
Finally, as we approach the New Year, can I thank YOU for all your hard work and commitment to Scouting over the past year. 2018 is going to be another fantastic Scouting year in Montgomeryshire - and it is only made possible by the hard work and dedication of volunteers such as yourself.
With best wishes for the New Year
Regional Commissioner - Powys
