Safeguarding is one of the Mandatory Ongoing Learning subjects. It is a requirement for all adults in Scouting to have undertaken 'approved safeguarding training' at least every five years and this is monitored at the point of appointment review. Adults who are new to Scouting should undertake Safeguarding Awareness Training delivered by our approved trainer. This forms part of Module 1. If you completed the online version for your last review, you should attend a face to face training session for the next.Find out more »

It's really important that we all try to take maximum advantage of the training provision. Some training is mandatory, some helps us deliver a better programme for our young people but all of it is a valuable resource that we cannot afford to waste. Please try to get to training sessions as they may not come around again in a hurry. As well as being informative and useful they are invariably good fun, offering a great chance to network with others doing the same roles. Most of our trainers are themselves Scouting volunteers and so good attendance respects their contribution. Empty chairs are very frustrating.
Applications for funding must be made *IN ADVANCE* on the official Training Fund Application Form.

There is a training fund held by the Montgomery Area Scout Council to help fund training for adult volunteers in Montgomeryshire Scouting. This is a restricted fund set up by the Montgomeryshire Area Scout Council through charitable fundraising from various funds and individuals, so that volunteers who give freely of their time to Scouting should not be financially burdened by training costs.
Funding is available up to 100% of training and travel costs for Leaders, Explorers and Adult Scout members, who are members of Montgomeryshire Scouting.
The aim of the training fund is to support skills, adventure and other Scouting activities. The training should allow adult volunteers to offer a broader range of activities and an enhanced experience to young people in Scouting in Montgomeryshire. This includes attendance at training updates, workshops and courses run by the Welsh Scout Council and other organisations.
