ADULT TRAINING IN SCOUTS

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES 2009

There are changes underway to Adult Training in Montgomeryshire and in future training will be delivered locally along with Leader and Group support as follows:

Area Support

Three Area Commissioners have been allocated Groups to offer support and to complete most of the training delivery. The allocation for the next year is:

Val Lewis - Welshpool, Llanfair Caereinion and Montgomery

Arthur Colerick - Llanrhaeadr, Guilsfield and Llanymynech

Bob Robinson - Newtown, Llanidloes and Abermule

The support is Group based and not Section based. The Support Leader allocated to your Group is able to advise on what training is needed and is also be able to agree what modules need to be completed and which have been covered by work or experience outside Scouting.

Training Provision

The Groups will be offered training locally in small groups with the exception of the Nights Away course which will still be done centrally. There are some modules which can be completed online.

Group Support

The Group will find the Area Team will visit more often and the Support Leader will be able to help from time to time where needed.

THE TRAINING TEAM

Training of adult volunteers, both Operational and Executive, is carried out by the Training Team, led by a Training Manager. We are currently looking for a permanent Training Manager and the post is being filled in the meantime by our District Commissioner Bob Robinson.
