We are really excited at 1st Guilsfield to be adding a Beaver Colony to our group which will mean that we have sections to support our young people from 6 to 18 from Beavers to our associated Explorer Group (Seven Valley). I was previously an assistant Beaver leader in Hertfordshire and when we moved to Wales in September 2017 this was one of the things that I missed the most. When my Son started at 1st Guilsfield Scouts and I saw what an amazing group this was and how well it supported the young people within their sections I was keen to help re-start their Beaver Colony. I am a firm believer that a strong scouting group is created when each of the sections are present and when they all work together. I have been welcomed into the 1st Guilsfield family and I am already getting as much our of scouting as the children that we do this for!
Our Beaver colony will start on 14th Jan and we have 11 excited boys all ready to start with 3 more due to join us as they reach the minimum age during 2019. I have dusted off my old Beaver name and have been working with the new assistant leaders to create a programme for the first term. As Guilsfield have a strong brownie group and there is a local Rainbow group we haven’t yet recruited any girls but I am sure that this will come with time.
